Store Policies

Before you can get amazing deals you have to know how the store policies can work to your advantage. Below are the policies for the stores I shop most frequently. Sometimes policies can vary by region or manager. You should always check with your store to find out their exact policy.

CVS:
  • You must register for a free CVS card to get the advertised discounts.
  • You can combine 1 store coupon with 1 manufacturer coupon.
  • ECB = Extra Care Buck. They are dollar-off CVS coupons earned when you purchase specific products.
  • CVS gives you 2% back on all your purchases via a quarterly Extra Care Buck that prints automatically.
  • Your ECBs are attached to your specific card. You can not use them with another card.
  • Earning ECBs has limits. The limit on a particular item generally ranges from 1-5.
  • ECBs may not be used on prescriptions, tobacco, alcohol, gift cards or stamps.
  • ECBs typically expire in exactly 4 weeks.
  • If the ad says 2/$4, you can purchase 1 item for $2.
  • New ad starts on Sunday.
KROGER:
  • Nashville area stores are a part of the Louisville district (ads vary by location).
  • You must register for a free Kroger Plus Card to get the advertised discounts.
  • They will double coupons $0.50 and under.
  • You can stack 1 store coupon + 1 mfg coupon + 1 ecoupon per item.
  • The new sales as starts on Sunday.
  • 10 for $10 sales means that each item will ring up $1.00.
  • BOGO sale items will ring up 50% off.
  • For every $100 you spend, you earn a $0.10 discount per gallon of gas on your next fill up.
PUBLIX:
  • You may combine 1 store coupon with 1 manufacturer coupon.
  • They accept competitor coupons including Target and Walgreens Register Rewards..
  • They will double coupons $0.50 and under.
  • BOGO items ring up at 50% off.
  • If the ad says 2/$4 they will ring up $2.00 each.
  • The new ad comes out on Wednesday.
  • They offer a penny item every Wednesday with a $10 purchase (before coupons).
  • They have several "clubs" that you can join and they send you coupons in the mail.
TARGET:
  • You can combine 1 store coupon with 1 manufacturer coupon.
  • Store coupons are available via their website and are sometimes found in magazines or the Sunday paper.
  • The new ad starts on Sunday.
  • Coupon policy is now available online.
WALGREENS:
  • You can combine 1 store coupon with 1 manufacturer coupon.
  • RRs or Register Rewards are dollar-off MFG coupons that can be applied to future purchases.
  • RRs typically expire in exactly 2 weeks.
  • There are no limits on RR deals. However, you must complete them in separate transactions. Also, you can not use a RR to do the same deal over again or your RR will not print. This is called "rolling."
  • If the ad says 2/$4 you must buy 2 of that item.
  • If the in-store coupon says 2/$4, you can just buy 1 item for $2. You only need 1 in-store coupon for any qty of a specific product.
  • Coupons may not exceed amount of items purchased.
  • The new ad starts on Sunday.
